Unfortunately, it took me too many years of working more hours than I should and getting to the point of burn out, before I figured this out.
Even though I had a business degree, there was nowhere I could go to find out how to open or run a retail business.
There was no community of retailers who would openly share their knowledge or experience.
If you’ve been around a while you’ll know I talk a lot about providing your customers with relevant, targeted email marketing to help improve their customer experience. Part of producing that content involves segmenting or breaking your contact list up so you can send the right information to the right people at the right time.
Many retailers struggle to know exactly what segments to break their lists into and what information to collect from their customers. So in this episode I’m sharing how my team and I recently segmented our own email list; our motivation for doing it, what segments we decided on and why the process didn’t go perfectly.
